Is Indian food very oily?

By Petrina Verma Sarkar, About.com

Question: Is Indian food very oily?
Answer:

Again, this depends on how you cook. Many Indian dishes require that you fry the masala (the spice paste that forms the base of the dish) in some oil. The popular belief is that the more oil you use to fry the masala, the better the taste. Personal experience has shown me though, that you can make a dish just as tasty with half the oil!

For those of you that care about the amount of it (and who doesn’t!!), all the recipes on my site already use the least possible oil that you can get away with!
