Among the common misconceptions about Indian food, ranking high is the belief that it is hard to cook and takes forever to prepare. Not true! Once you know what you're doing, are organized and prepare ahead, Indian food is easy to cook, wholesome and so tasty!
I love to find shortcuts to my family's favorite recipes. My boys love chickpeas and red kidney beans and I make them into yummy dishes like Rajma, Chilli Indian Style, Chola Gosht.... All these dishes normally require the beans to be soaked in warm water overnight, so as to soften them. If like me you sometimes haven't planned ahead and still want to be spontaneous and eat them, the trick to putting these dishes together quickly is to use canned beans! This reduces prep time drastically and means you can be and still have a delicious meal.
