Jalebi!

Saturday August 2, 2008
Jalebi Vendor MumbaiJalebi is the one sweet you will find in EVERY Indian sweet shop! It can be a fancy, high-end store that makes all it's sweets only in desi-ghee (clarified butter) or a lowly street side stall (like the one in this picture my friend Ian took when he visited India), they will all make and sell Jalebi.

Juicy, hot Jalebis aren't the easiest to make but so what, practice and soon you'll be perfect! Good Jalebis are slightly crunchy when you bite into them and then, a flood of sweetness in your mouth! Jalebis though mostly eaten by themselves, can also be soaked in warm milk. I have been known to order them from the corner sweet shop and eat them like this for breakfast on several occasions! I did say I had a fierce sweet tooth, didn't I?
