Moon Daal CheelaAccording to the ancient science of Ayurveda, all foods have either heat producing or cooling properties. It stands to reason then, that foods are chosen according to the season. Too many heaty foods eaten in the summer are thought to affect blood circulation, making the body sluggish.

Most dairy products (except for yogurt), several legumes and lentils, most fruit and veggies and grains like wheat, Basmati rice and barley have cooling properties and are therefore perfect for the hot summer days.
