Mix up some magic!
Thursday February 9, 2006
'Curry powder’, thought of as the key ingredient of Indian food, is actually a mix of spices collectively known as Garam Masala. This magic mixture is added to dishes along with other spices to enhance their flavor and aroma. Each household in India has its own secret spice proportions so that the end result differs from home to home. The better the quality of the ingredients, the tastier the Garam Masala and the resulting dish in which it is used. Most Indians still prefer to prepare their own Garam Masala just prior to cooking.
Once you've made a batch of your very own Garam Masala, use it to cook these delicious foods:
- Masala Kheema (spicy minced meat)
- Dahi Gosht (lamb in yoghurt sauce)
- Mughlai Chicken
- Chicken Jalfreizi
- Aaloo Mutter (peas and potatoes) and
- Palak Paneer (spinach and cottage cheese)
